Lobster Festivals In Belize...

June 15th is not just any other day here in Belize. This day marks the beginning of lobster season, when the harvesting of one of the country’s most valuable seafood exports is again allowed. Because the livelihood of many fisherman, as well as restaurant and hotel owners, is dependent on this crustacean… Belize annually has three Lobsterfests in a Row: June 15 – 23rd 2012: San Pedro Lobsterfest. San Pedro is a town on the southern part of the island of Ambergris Caye. It is the second largest city in the Belize District and one of the most touristic destinations of Belize, located at the second largest reef in the world. While San Pedro Lobsterfest is sure to keep you busy, San Pedro and Ambergris Caye offer up an amazing variety of activities for everyone. Official San Pedro Lobsterfest Website: www.sanpedrolobsterfest.com June 22 – 24th 2012: Placencia Lobsterfest. Placencia is a small town located in the Stann Creek District of Belize. It is the most southern town on the largest peninsula of the Gulf of Mexico. Placencia is a very popular destination in Belize for those who wan to go diving with Whale Sharks and fishing. Lobsterfest 2012 will have new and returning excitement of recent years. Official Placencia Lobsterfest Website: www.placencialobsterfest.com June 29 – July 1st 2012: Caye Caulker Lobesterfest. Caye Caulker is a small limestone coral island off the coast of Belize, located as well at the second largest reef of the world. Caye Caulker Lobster Fest started on July 1994 by the Islanders Veterans Football Club and is the original Lobster Fest of Belize, boasting 17 and counting years in the business.
