I have done the unthinkable adjusted my Mom's and Grandmothers recipe..

Here goes Powder Buns adjusted my way...yes I'm in trouble if they don't turn out right.

2 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/4 lb margarine or i used butter
1/2 can coconut milk  or you can use evaporated milk
one egg beaten
1 freshly grated nutmeg
essence i use vanilla and almond couple drops

That's the basic recipe: I've added crushed walnuts, raisins and cheddar cheese( i know your asking why cheese because in Belize we eat buns with a hard cheese with red cover called Dutch Cheese.

Method: Mix together flour, sugar and baking powder. After mixing properly, add margarine and crumble. Add beaten egg, milk grated nutmeg, essence. Mix to s stiff consistency. I scooped mine out with a table spoon. These buns take shape in baking just do not make them too big. The dough should slide right off your spoon. This mixture made about 12 buns for me.

Dough with butter ,sugar and baking powder

Whole nutmeg

This is how it looks prior to putting in oven.

Finished Bun (Powder Bun)
Finished product they were pretty tasty...
